Skin Exfoliation

There are so many benefits to exfoliating your skin and with different options available it's something that everyone should incorporate into their homecare routine, whether that be a daily solution, nightly serum, weekly scrub or mask or an in-clinic treatment, there are options for all skin types.

Exfoliation helps to remove the dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin that can make our skin look dull and tired. It also helps to smooth out any uneven texture on the surface and improve skin tone; while helping the rest of your products work more efficiently.

How to choose the right option...

Most skincare brands will have a couple of options when it comes to their exfoliation products, these can include scrubs and chemical exfoliators containing glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids.

Manual scrubs like AlumierMD MicroDerm Polish uses exfoliating particles and skin conditioners and is great for buffing off dead cells and can be used once to twice a week depending on the skin type.

Chemical exfoliators such as AlumierMD Bright & Clear daily solution and AHA Night Serum use combinations of Lactic and Salicylic acids to gently slough away oil build up and speed up our natural exfoliation. Lactic acid also works into the skin to help encourage the production of new healthy cells. Nightly serums can be introduced slowly, initially using a couple of times a week and depending on the skin can be increased to every night.

AlumierMD Enzymatic Peel is applied like a treatment mask over the skin and left on for 3-5 minutes. This highly effective treatment combines lactic acid with fruit enzymes to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote skin renewal, minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and discolouration. Aloe Vera extract calms the skin, while sodium hyaluronate and vitamin B5 hydrate and soften skin for a supple and radiant complexion.

Combining these with in clinic treatments can really help to enhance your results and benefits of your homecare products.

Exfoliating Treatments: Peels/Dermabrasion

A Chemical Peel is a professional, medical grade exfoliation treatment that will effectively exfoliate dead cells by dissolving the bonds that attach them to the face. This allows newer, brighter smoother skin to make its way to the surface.

The Power + Peel combines Lactic acid & Salicylic acid. Lactic acid is an AHA which exfoliates dead skin cells and enhances skin renewal which improves fine lines and wrinkles. Salicylic acid is a BHA which is an oil soluble exfoliant with anti-inflammatory properties, allowing it to penetrate the pores to exfoliate and control acne breakouts. Salicylic Acid also benefits ageing skin helping to reduce the appearance of open pores caused by loss of elasticity improving texture.

We also have the Radiant 30 Peel which uses 30% Lactic acid, to gently exfoliate the outer layers of the skin. Strengthening the skin and improving texture and tone of the skin. This peel is best suited to more of a dry, sensitive, redness prone skin type.

HydraFacial: This six-step Deluxe treatment includes detoxifying lymphatic drainage, hydra-dermabrasion and a tailored glycolic peel and extractions to deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin, while also delivering antioxidants; such as hyaluronic acid and peptides to hydrate and repair the skin, to where they are most needed. And finally LED Light Rejuvenation to give immediate results, restoring and rebuilding skin health.

It is always beneficial to have a thorough consultation when considering skin treatments, changing or adding in products into your skincare routine to ensure you are selecting the best for your skin. We are always available to answer questions or guide you in the right direction.
